20-02-2017
Gosselin Group and Heavy Group reinforce service package
by setting up new holding company: Heavy Project Solutions

On December 12, 2016, CEO Marc Smet of Gosselin Group and CEO Marc Rombouts of Heavy signed an owner-buyout contract for Heavy. Gosselin Group holds 50% of the shares in the new holding company that was set up, Heavy Project Solutions.

Heavy provides logistics solutions for exceptional transport. Staffed by 30 employees spread out among three companies, Heavy boasts consolidated sales of approximately 33 million Euros:

• Heavy Import Warehousing and Distribution provides the full logistics chain of services for goods shipped from    Antwerp and Rotterdam to destinations within Europe.
• Heavy Logistics organizes all of the logistics involved in exceptional transport, storage of machines and
complete projects, event logistics and overseas projects including shipping.

Marc Smet: “The owner buyout is a new step in the process of integrating Heavy in Gosselin’s activities. We had already set up the joint venture Heavy GCT in April 2014. This was the first milestone in an operational partnership between Heavy and the container terminal and Gosselin Group’s warehouses. We derive maximum benefits from our location next to the Albert Canal in Deurne.” Since that time, the joint venture has been handling the transfers at this location of Japanese CNC machines for further distribution in Europe.

“Thanks to this owner buyout, our organization now has every opportunity to continue our growth,” Marc Rombouts, CEO of Heavy adds.

The Heavy companies will move to the new warehouse and office complex that Gosselin is building at the beginning of the Belcrownlaan. Gosselin is building a 12,000 m2 warehouse at the site of the former Crown factory, and a new office complex will be built on top of the warehouse. A 16-meter high canopy of nearly 4,000 m2 in area will connect the old Crown warehouse to the new structure.
